Begins in the Midwest, at a mall, on a wet and stormy day before the age of the internet. There, a conscientious security guard noticed some shoppers quickly glance back at a spot in the floor which indicated a potential hazard. Aware of OSHA law 29 CFR 1910.22(a)(2) and 29 CFR 1910.145(c)(2), the security guard placed caution signs and alerted mall management to the risk. The mall management; not as concerned about bonuses or losing their job for doing the right thing, often the case today; immediately called a floor consulting company. With a decision made on the spot, no pun intended, Floor Traction’s anti-slip solution was applied and within a few hours, the hazard was corrected with no inconvenience displayed by shoppers. (Hard to believe, we know, but there were times before the internet where employees and shoppers were considered assets, and their voices were heard and due credit was given where deserved.)
