Dr. Stephens is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, rural health scholar, and senior graduate professor of nursing. In 2023, Dr. Stephens was identified as a "key community stakeholder" by Teton Behavioral Health Alliance. Dr. Stephens is the only advanced practice nurse serving as a subject matter and quality of care expert for Health Choice Arizona, which serves over 200,000 patients. She presented on digital health and innovation at the International Council of Nurses 2021 Congress in Geneva, Switzerland.
