I have been a patient for 5 years and always had excellent service until this week when their true colors showed. I told the doctor, Amy Keding, that I was only in for glasses. They had been chewed by my in-law's dog and I needed to replace them. I told her I wasn't going to be purchasing contacts and she preformed my eye exam and even gave me a trial pair of contacts, which I thought was nice, since my glasses were destroyed. I ordered glasses, paid my bill quickly, and headed home.
When arriving home my husband wondered why my bill had been so high. We looked through 11 line items charged only to find a charge for contacts that was 2/3 of the bill. I called the office to see why I had been charged and they told me it was for my contacts. I let them know I didn't order or want contacts and they said "Sorry, the exam was already preformed and paid for." I requested a refund.
Last year I had both exams done but only wanted glasses and specifically told them I didn't want contacts. I again asked for a refund based on that information and was placed on hold so the receptionist could speak with the doctor. She came back and said the doctor refused a refund.
My mom then talked to the office to see if they would reconsider since our entire family has been going there for 5 years and there was obviously a misunderstanding. At that point the receptionist said "If you want to give us the trial pair of contacts back and the prescription you can get a refund." We told he we would drive right down to bring them to them and then she asked us to hold. She returned to the phone and said "I misspoke. The doctor is not willing to give you a refund under any terms." I then told her to cancel my husband's upcoming appointment. She did and told me to "Have a nice day" to which I replied "you too."
You'd think that would be enough to leave a one star review but the office decided to really show their true colors today with a text message that read "Makayla...., Due to the circumstances we went ahead and cancelled the glasses and issued a refund of $40.20 to the original payment card. You were provided copies of your prescriptions to be able to purchase glasses some where that you feel more comfortable. If you need them emailed, let us know. Riviera Opticare."
I didn't get a refund for the contact exam I didn't want and was charged for but they cancelled the glasses I desperately needed. I would keep this in mind if you are looking for a place that is honest and has integrity and not one that's just trying to rip you off and charge your insurance. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau.

Wait time was good for exam, but wait time for dialating was around 45 min, we were there a total of 2.5 hours from check in to waking out door.

Dr. Reckel is outstanding....takes appropriate time with you to explain your condition and treatment, etc.....staff is also very customer oriented.

I really appreciated Dr. Tracy's explanations during the exam. I learned a lot about my eyes by the end of the exam. The entire office was very professional and helpful.
