In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill.… Read Full Editorial
Good, but not great by CSMobileUser2 via Citysearch on 4/24/2009
If you never had Hibachi before, this is the place you should consider. Food is not bad but nowhere close to high quality. Service is okay, not all chefs are truely Japanese.
All Around Excellent by cgorilla via Citysearch on 8/11/2008
The food is delicious and the wait staff is very courteous. It is a little pricey it can run around around $100 for dinner for two but it is worth the splurge. I would just like to say for the idiot below my review that had this huge…
Totally terrible attitude. Avoid! by AlanZ via Citysearch on 1/17/2008
We had a reservation at Benihana's tonight for my son's birthday. As a student of Japanese culture, this was a special treat, planned weeks in advance. However, the valet staff was so rude and obnoxious that we walked in, cancelled our…

Behihana by Rachel S via Insider Pages on 9/29/2006
This is a great place to take some body you are trying to impress. The experience is one in a million. The tricks, the food and the people you get to meet and eat with. I was always asked may i refill your drink. I have been there a few…
Fun once in a while indulgence by amy n. via Judy's Book on 3/24/2006
This is the Japanese place where you sit around a hot surface and the chefs perform for you. There are approximately 8 to 10 seats to a table and they seat you with other parties if you are a party of less than that, so it's most fun to…
Worth going one time but not the second time by hly407 via Citysearch on 2/1/2006
Unless you come with a party of 8, otherwise will be seated with strangers. I ordered the Rocky's Choice ($23.95) with fried rice ($2.25 extra), a side of saute shrimp($7.50). My husband ordered Seafood Combination($33.95). The chef was…
Great Sushi, Great Service and Unique View by florida2006 via Citysearch on 1/24/2006
I think this is one of the best kept secrets when it comes to sushi and sashimi to be found in the Bay area. Why? Well I've been eating here about 10 years regularly. Obvioulsy throughout that time the staff have changed, the menu has…
we come here at least once a year by Cy Q via Insider Pages on 7/22/2005
We love going to Benihana. They have great food & great view of the water. The staff are very friendly & the cook is always pleasant to watch them do their trick while cooking.
Good show--but overpriced by feyth23 via Citysearch on 10/31/2003
I recently attended Benihana's on a Saturday evening for a bachelorette dinner we had. The restaurant was packed and our party of 6 did not make reservations prior to arriving and they were still able to seat us very promptly. The chef…
nice concept but food lacks pizzaz by foodiva via Citysearch on 8/18/2003
Our chef was a bit of a moron. He was new I guess and his tricks sucked. But he was trying hard to make us laugh. The food is pricey and small portioned. The famous fried rice was not all that, sushi was just as good as anyplace else.…
Go eat here! by kim92 via Citysearch on 12/30/2002
Cmon guys! I saw the bad reviews here and had to register on Citysearch and give my thoughts. This is Benihana! Everyone knows it, it's great food teppan-yaki style, a bit overpriced, but a total classic.
It's all the same... by Bill_C via Citysearch on 9/6/2002
It's all the same, Benihana is all flash and show with no substance. The food is less than mediocre and the ambience is totally contrived and artificial.
Benihana sucks!!!! by crystal_clear via Citysearch on 7/16/2002
My friends and I had no reservations weren't seated for 20 minutes. The place wasn't full! Our chef didn't talk to us or perform any "tricks". We got very few portions of appetizers & fried rice. Other tables had heaping bowls of fried…
