Tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of Bernal Heights, this fusion-happy sushi house caters to locals. The rolls, some of which are dipped in tempura batter and deep-fried, are the main lure. Other offerings betray a variety of Asian… Read Full Editorial
Excellent by marliz r via Insider Pages on 11/12/2008
The sushi here is really good and has a modern kick to it. The atmosphere is very warm and they have great customer service. The only thing I have to say about this place that is bad is that it's a little pricey :(
Avoid Sushi by apple415 via Citysearch on 11/26/2007
Please have at least one Japanese chef who knows about Sushi.\r
They didn't cook my grilled fish right. I felt bad after eating the fish.\r
good rolls, good crowd by t_girl_dining via Citysearch on 7/2/2007
Moki's moved down the street to a larger location, it's a local gem of the Bernal Heights area. The rolls are more innovative than usual - take the Drum Roll with mango or the Moki Special with jalepeno - you might thnk it's strange but…
Go for the Grill not the sushi! by rml244 via Citysearch on 4/12/2007
Sadly, yet once again my hopes for a great sushi restaurant find in noe/mission/bernal neighborhood have been thwarted. We had two maki rolls (something that claimed to have eel and the other that if viewed through a microscope would have…
Very good sushi, if not "authentic" by dewalker via Citysearch on 11/21/2006
I've been eating sushi for over 20 years and I have to say I gotten a little bored with precious, completely authentic and generally overpriced sushi. Food, like art, is not static and it's great to try the innovative/funky combinations…
My Favorite by pinkytuscadero via Citysearch on 11/17/2006
Not only are the prices resonable and the sushi innovative but it is consistently fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and hip but not too hip. For those of you who prefer a more traditional sushi experience this may not be the…
i dont understand the hype by joyt1013568909 via Citysearch on 11/2/2006
there are many sushi places to eat but this place is fancy sushi, that is not worth it. it fushion and it's different, but for my buck i rather go to jimisan.. which is different, bigger and a lot more tasty!
Everything fresh and delicious/ great neighborhood spot! by madawaska via Citysearch on 9/27/2006
Last Tuesday, my friend took me for my first time at Moki's new location on Cortland. Everything we had was so good. The blue cheese pear salad was excellent as was the delicious drum roll which is crab mix, mango and mint. Also enjoyed…
Great New Space, Same Fab Food by cyclegrrl12 via Citysearch on 9/24/2006
Heard to believe previous user review - we've eaten at Moki's at least ten times in the last six months and haven't had anything less than a GREAT meal...EVER. LOVE their new space: the burnt red and gold walls give it a warm, cozy feel,…
Stick to the cooked food - look elsewhere for good sushi by rumncoke via Citysearch on 8/15/2006
I love sushi and this place was so far below average, it's not even worth a shot. I went with a group so we sampled a pretty good % of the menu, and there was nothing good to report. The mango/ahi spring rolls tasted like bitter cabbage…
Excellent fish, slow service by erinm1965 via Citysearch on 6/16/2006
I have had sushi here close to 20 times and while the fish is the best, the service is severely lacking. Last night I waited 20 minutes for the server to even come to the table and then another 45 to order desert. Sure it is busy but not…
Good sushi place for vegetarians by chacha1847 via Citysearch on 6/9/2006
This is a great sushi place if you don't eat fish. They have many varieties of veggie nigiri and maki, including several unusual specialty rolls. However, it is an outstanding sushi place for meat-eaters as well. I've never tried…

Bernal Heights favorite moves into its new location with the same island-inspired menu of sushi and South Pacific small plates.
Loving the fish and sexy servers here by cityboi via Citysearch on 3/15/2006
Woa, this place has a gorgeous staff and amazing food - the pear and blue cheese salad was inspiring, and the ecstasy, riptide and bernal rolls really ripped. Everyone in our group loved the mix of small plates and super fresh sushi -…
I am Japanese and this place sux by mistertee via Citysearch on 2/3/2006
I don't want to bore anyone with my experiences eating sushi in San Francisco or compare Moki's to better sushi restaurants (ie the sushi at the food court in Stonestown Galleria is better). I want to say this: the reason the fish is…
best roll ever by bobbybell via Citysearch on 9/30/2005
My friend and I agreed that the Moki roll is the best we've ever had - macadamias and jalapeno bits were a brilliant combo. The waitress was friendly both times, once we got to our table, but we were offered no service while waiting on…
A great sushi place! by justineelise via Citysearch on 9/20/2005
City search had Moki listed as one of the top places for sushi. They were right about Moki. I am normally not a fan of miso, but the miso here was not too salty. Ithad great flavor thanks to the tofu and mushrooms in it. We had the…
SUPER FRESH FISH, ots of vegetarian options by cycleprinz via Citysearch on 8/16/2005
My partner and I have been to Moki's a zillion times and to other SF sushi bars, but at Moki's I ALWAYS come away thinking, "that's gotta be the best fish ever!! Iit can get crowded, but that means they go thru tons of fish and its always…
Ewwww by xx_latina_xx via Citysearch on 7/29/2005
The food was awful it was nasty!!!! the food didnt make the wait worth it at all.
On the top of my list by sassysandy via Citysearch on 11/13/2004
This place serves extremely fresh and creative sushi dishes. The ecstasy roll is so fresh it melts in your mouth. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable. Overall, one of my top choices for sushi in the City. The only negative to…
