Shady-Fixed leak with mud and lied job complete by Jill Gold on 4/17/2016 If there was a way to give no starts I would definitely do that.Juan Hernandez owner of Catalina Landscape is also running 'Juan LawnCare'. He came in to fix a leaky pipe that was part of the drip irrigation system he installed. He came across as a budding new start up business who is thriving well due to hard work and commitment. Right after the irrigation system was installed, the pipes started to leak. We had to call him several times and after more than 20 calls he finally came to fix the leaky pipe. When we checked we found out he just pushed lots of clay and with time the leak was back again. What a CHEAT and FRAUD. The DG he put was not compacted properly and it is very lose. I dont think this guy has any landscaping or irrigation system installation skill. To give another chance, we called him several times after the next leak, he never answered even one call. Poor service, poor quality of work and no talent in landscaping. The review before me shows this guy is not trustworthy. The good reviews are only with lawn mowing. He is a gardener who is creeping into big money landscaping world through deception and lies. STAY AWAY for HE HAS NO LANDSCAPING SKILL. I am going to sue him with small business bureau. Stay away from this business and any other business he might run with the contact number ending with 1093. Better pay what is deserved to a quality contractor that doesn't fool you with different company names.

Juan Hernandez- Terrible service and Poor quality of work by qw34er90 on 4/13/2016 I am not the one who takes time to write detailed review on anyone. But I have to put a word of caution about these companies- Juan LawnCare and Catalina Landscape run by Juan Hernandez and Michael. We paid $9000 for a very poor service and quality that still has several open issues till date unattended by Juan's company despite repeated follow-up calls. We hired Catalina Landscape for our front-yard and backyard. We were very cautious in picking the landscape contractor as we did not want to deal with another shady contractor, Juan was very agreeable and came across as a trust worthy person. Oh boy! Where we wrong!!Issue 1 - Not professional.Juan said he will complete in 10 days. He did not show up on the first day and we had to call and ask him. The project started a week late. When he started the project, in the first week only 2 days they worked. We had to call and check every time if they will come to work. This is not professional.Issue 2 - Overall quality of work is not good.In the second week of work, Juan and Michael got another project and where in a big hurry to finish the work. Initially they would check with us on very work they did to meet our expectation. But soon, they were in such hurry to complete that affected the quality of the work. Part of the landscaping was to install irrigation system in the front and back. The systems he installed were very poor quality. You can get this for $30 in home depot. These guys working on a $9000 project for 800 square feet yard has installed the cheapest one in market. If we had known this before, we would have never allowed to install cheap products. After a month it still leaks. Check the pictures.I don’t think these guys have the knowledge to install irrigation system drip system. I don’t think these are the contractor to choose if you are doing this type of project for the first time.Issue 3- Not accountable. My yard designs that you see in their website is what I suggested. I picked all the plants. I don’t mind when they took the credit if they showed quality work and commitment. Before signing the contract, Juan said he will do the first lawn mowing for free since he did grass on a tiny patch for kids to play. But he denied this at the end. The plants on the agreed contract were more. But he cut corners and did less than what we agreed. Also, the design, the number of plants and quality of labor of the center plant art surrounded with rocks that he agreed to do is different than what they finally created. We had to let it go since at this point the project was getting stressful for us to continue with this company. If there is something Juan says, have it in the contract word by word else it is going to be his word against yours.Issue 4- Terrible work ethics and not trust worthy. While signing the contract, Juan asked for more than 60% of the total cost to be paid upfront so he has the money to buy all materials and pay his employees. We agreed to this because he gained our trust. Soon the project scope increased mainly because he somehow forgot to suggest trimming certain trees in the backyard. He made this suggestion while doing the project and we have to now pay him more. He even before completing this work he asked for more money to pay his employees. We paid him again.Towards the end, there were open issues. Most important -the new irrigation system they installed in front and back weren’t working properly and it was leaking water all over. Juan said, he had to start his other project but will come tomorrow to finish it. He now asked to pay him the remaining $1000 to buy materials for this other project. He literally begged my husband to give him some portion of the $1000. We are kind people but very cautious. The trust he gained and the act he put in showing dedication, really fooled us. We paid him $600. He did not show up the next day as promised. My husband had to keep on calling him for next few days for Juan to even show up.I did not see dedication and commitment once they received all payment. If you do hire these people, never pay these guys up front.Issue 5- Terrible serviceThe very next day he received all the 95% of the pay, the new irrigation system was leaking. We switched off the water. But the new pipe he installed was dripping water constantly. The succulent right next to the pipe were getting water 24 hours. Juan was unresponsive. Because of him, after spending almost $9000 on our yards and installing a new irrigation system, we were manually watering. What type of service is this? Finally when he decided to come and called my husband- we told him it is nigh time now and there is not no point and asked him to come during daytime the next day. Juan ignored us and stepped into our property without our notice to fix the irrigation system. We came to know about this when the sprinkler started running the next day. Obviously we had to call him to find this out. My Goodness! Who trespasses like this? This is scary.Until Juan signed the contract he was prompt in answering the calls. Once the warranty period started, he never follows through. Very delayed service. The pipes were leaking for a days before he came to attend. I would NEVER refer Juan LawnCare and Catalina Landscape run by Juan Hernandez and Michael to anyone.
