Dr. Firas Zakaria is an internal medicine specialist with offices in Palos Heights, Illinois. He welcomes residents from Palos Heights and its surrounding communities to experience health care that’s focused on wellness and creating long-term patient-physician relationships. His practice is a patient-first approach that includes safe and effective management of both acute illnesses and long-term chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
Dr. Zakaria combines his extensive medical training and skill with a passion for optimizing the health and well-being of every patient. He received his medical degree from the prestigious Damascus University School of Medicine. He completed a residency program in pathology at the University of Damascus and a second residency in internal medicine at Chicago’s Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.
As a primary care physician, Dr. Zakaria is skilled in supervising all facets of his patients’ health. He’s well known for his longer than average appointment times, which allow him the opportunity to truly understand the needs and concerns of his patients. Rather than simply writing a prescription for high-risk medications such as narcotics or sedatives for symptom management, Dr. Zakaria is dedicated to discovering and resolving the underlying issues causing those symptoms.
His comprehensive approach to patient care includes being available to his patients for same-day or next-day appointments when necessary. He’s also an experienced hospitalist who continues to follow his patients during hospitalizations and after acute care/emergency department visits.
