Dmitry Shuster, MD

Dr. Shuster provides comprehensive care for adult patients in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, and pancreaticobiliary disorders. Dr. Shuster received his medical training at University of Chicago and completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at University of Michigan, where he learned state-of-the-art techniques in colorectal cancer screening and large polyp resection, endoscopic management of GERD/Barrett's esophagus and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Dr. Shuster also regularly diagnoses and cares for patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), complex liver disease and swallowing disorders, including achalasia.Dr. Shuster's additional fellowship training in therapeutic and interventional endoscopy at the University of Michigan allows him to perform cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for complex hepatobiliary disease, esophageal, and colorectal cancer. These procedures include advanced diagnostic tools using endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and biopsy to help diagnose a variety of pre-malignant tumors. In addition, he manages bile duct and pancreatic duct stones and strictures using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).Dr. Shuster has received awards for clinical teaching and research and has published numerous scientific articles. More recently, Dr. Shuster has given presentations at national meetings and serves as a reviewer for a medical journal. His interests focus on early diagnosis and management of pre-cancerous lesions in the GI tract and hepatobiliary system.
