Idelle M. Woodson, MD, MPH

Idelle Woodson, MD, MPH, is with Springfield Clinic’s Internal Medicine Department seeing patients at our Main Campus East location in Springfield. She joined Springfield Clinic in 2019 after providing care for six years in Missouri. She earned her medical degree and completed her internal medicine residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. She has also earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University at Albany - State University of New York. “I really became interested in medicine at an early age and even told my grandma that I wanted to be a doctor,” says Dr. Woodson. “After an initial career in public health, I realized that I really wanted to work with patients more directly and get them through the process of healing.” Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Woodson's background in public health lends a unique perspective to her practice. "Helping patients understand their health and educating them to be their own health advocate is very important to me," she says. She chose internal medicine as her specialty because she believes working with adults through sometimes complex medical issues allows her to become a real partner in their health care. Dr. Woodson focuses on preventive health, including age- and gender-appropriate screenings to detect diseases and conditions.
