Since 1980, Mr. Collins has served the lawyers of the 30th Judicial District as their elected representative on the the North Carolina State Bar Council.
Jerry has also served as the President of the 30th Judicial District Bar Association and the President of the Tri-County Bar Association.

Mr. Collins has served his community as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Industrial Opportunities, a sheltered workshop, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Reach, Inc., a program for battered spouses, a Board Member of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member of the local chapter of the American Heart Association.

Mr. Collins is certified by the North Carolina Department of Justice and teaches Concealed Carry classes.
