Those principles-honesty, hard work, and giving customers the best product in the world-were evident back in 1949, when Ed invented the original trenchers. He called this revolutionary product the DWP for Ditch Witch® Power. The simple but unique design was a combination of brains and brawn, with an endless conveyor digging chain that could dig a trench up to six inches wide and 30 inches deep, with pure power and relative ease. Together with its compact size and low cost, the DWP launched an entire industry and became the foundation for one of the leading underground construction companies in the world: The Ditch Witch® organization.
