Sparks gained its most enduring fame when mobster Paul Castellano was assassinated on his way in, but that just proves that its meat is worth dying for. OK, maybe that's an exaggeration. Certainly no one comes here for their health--or the… Read Full Editorial

The key differentiator between Cause and the other topnotch meat homes is the weather and category it projects. While others equivalent it in food, the weather at Cause is devoid of fellow in its classification.

Every time I go to NYC for business a visit to Sparks is a Must. Best Stake, great service, incredible wine and cigars selections.

I have been coming to sparks since the 80's what a great food. You get what you paid for. The greatest cuts of beef around. 5 stars for me.

Not enough stars

RIP Sparks (NO STARS) by missotis1 via Citysearch on 1/11/2011

Sparks used to be great. But it seems like the shootings and staff lawsuits have taken a toll on the establishment as it's now a complete den of disfunction. I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for my husband's birthday. They…

hard of hearing by Alexa73 via Citysearch on 4/12/2010

the service was horrible first to begin with second the steak was ok and the salad and seafood was good but i asked for my steak to be well done due to the bussy night the waiter or kitchen laacked to cook my steak properally blood red in…

Magnificently Humiliating by cealie via Citysearch on 11/20/2009

The draw must still be that Paul Castellano was murdered on his way in. Ugly legacy for an ugly restaurant. Dining in a funeral parlor is what it was like for me. Dark, dreary and old. Looked like it hadn't been dusted in a while. My…

Stick to the steak is my guess by asaralegui via Citysearch on 3/19/2008

I chose to eat a red snapper at Sparks after having too much red meat of late and having had terrific fish at other NY steak houses. Mistake #1. It was breaded, dry and tasteless. Very disappointing given the cost and the reputation of…

The best steak in NYC....PERIOD by TimQMills via Citysearch on 3/8/2008

There isn't much to say here. Simply put, you will not find a better tasting steak in New York City (maybe anywhere). Yes, I have been to Peter Luger. Yes, I have been to the Strip House. Yes, I have been to the Old Homestead. I can…

As a young professional always looking to entertain clients I have been frequenting many steakhouses and I must say if you are looking for the environment, service, and quality food of a "storied NYC steakhouse" this is the place to try.…

What a classic NYC steakhouse experience should be! by nycglutton via Citysearch on 8/9/2007

Our 22 year old nephew was in town and he wanted a try a "real New York City steakhouse". A quick call to the restuarant confirmed a 7 PM mid-week reservation. We arrived on time and were seated immediately despite a good sized crowd in…
