The former Twist ‘N Shout has undergone remodeling and is now known as Smokin’ Buckeye BBQ Co. Owners Diane and John Coulston say their wood-smoked, dry-rubbed barbecue is “the best around” and they have the awards to prove it. Among their many awards are “2012 Ohio’s Best Ribs,” presented at the Gold Wings and Ribs Festival in Pomeroy and the People’s Choice Award at the 2o12 Tri-State Rhythm and Rib Fest in Ottawa. The inside format of the local facility, located on the west edge of Carey, has been adjusted to accommodate a sit-down restaurant. “We still have the ice cream as a dessert item,” the owners note, but “barbecue is our priority.”
