Common Roots Mercantile was opened in October of 2014. We lucked into buying a Historic building located right next to our photography studio and the love for this building is what started the vision for Common Roots Mercantile. We knew when we bought it we wanted to renovate it back to what it once was. As we peeled through MANY layers of walls we uncovered beautiful sandstone walls & original tin ceilings. It was like this building was telling us what kind of store it wanted to be. Our community is very important to us and as we researched this building I kept thinking about our roots here in McAlester and how so many of us that were raised in this area have common roots. Thus Common Roots Mercantile was born. We loved the idea of being a mercantile and carrying many different items in the store. So we carry everything from gifts, clothing, bath & body, makeup, chocolates and everyone's fave ICE COLD SODAS. We would love for you to come see us and join our Common Roots Family.
