In Short
Dishing up Latin and Spanish flavors, Cafe de la Paz lights up Shattuck Avenue with its colorful plates and consistently lively night scene. Lately, the food is said to be alternating between good and mediocre, but their… Read Full Editorial
An absolutely horrendous experience by voxhumana via Citysearch on 11/12/2008
I scheduled a business dinner here with 20 out of town guests. The owner required a deposit of $250. and immediately cashed my check the same day. (this is a clue.) The dinner occurred a week later and the food and service were disjointed…
Cafe de La Paz by Nicole K via Insider Pages on 1/16/2008
This place can be overpriced. I have also been served food that is burned. Nonetheless, there are few places where you can get corn pancakes that will rock your world. It is a nice space upstairs as well.
Service oriented folks by delectos via Citysearch on 12/31/2007
Owner was great at fixing a miscommunication we had. Very straightforward, amicable and respectful.\r
They try hard and will probably succeed regardless of glitches described further.
Disappointing by gimmeyum via Citysearch on 5/13/2007
I was entirely underwhelmed by the food and service at Cafe de La Paz. Went in for lunch, excited to get some traditional South American cuisine. But, the dishes were far from authentic. Rather than incuding dishes that were traditional to…
Abhorent Service by blacksandnstars via Citysearch on 2/17/2007
No stars! I have eaten here a few times before and put up with the slow service because of the good Latin fusion food...but no longer!\r

I wouldn't go again by samatakah via Citysearch on 1/3/2007
Went here last night with a group of 9 for a birthday party. We had a reservation, but waited to sit because the room is L-shaped and the waitresses didn't look around the bend of the L (there was no one sitting in that section of the…
Watered Down Sangria and Disappointing Desserts by kiwikat via Citysearch on 12/13/2006
We ordered sangria, empanadas, platanos fritos and a chocolate-kahlua mousse dessert. Unfortunately, all but the empanadas were extremely disappointing. The sangria was nearly filled to the brim with big chunks of ice (even though it…
Disappointing experience by Jan Berkeley resident via Citysearch on 10/29/2006
Last Friday on October 27, 2006 we went to LaPaz for dinner which included flamenco dancing entertainment with a couple of friends. We were allowed to enter the dining room where the flamenco dancing was to take place at 9 oclock PM and we…
Tantalized my taste buds! by TeeLew via Citysearch on 7/3/2006
I met a friend there for an early dinner last week. I was pleasantly surprised by the sunny, naturally lit dining room on the second floor. The room was small but my friend and I were still able to carry on our conversation without feeling…
Unforunately, a really terrible experience by lizsong via Citysearch on 5/15/2006
We made a reservation for a large group, hoping to have a wonderful brunch after graduation. We ended up having to choose from their mother's day special menu starting at $20/person. Okay, that was fine...but we waited over an hour before…
Terrible. by dlaugh via Citysearch on 2/15/2006
Went here for Valentine's Day last night. The music (flamenco) was great. Everything else was terrible. They packed diners in like sardines, presumably to make as much money off the evening as possible. The food was mediocre at best --…

THis place is so yummy. I am a professional chef and I grade restaurants based on quality, creative flavors, and most important ...service!!!
Try the fish, so fresh, healthy, light.
They also have fun evenings with Flamenco, Salsa, music,…
